After a lot of ‘will they, won’t they,’ in January of 2025, New York City finally implemented congestion pricing. And guess what? It’s been a massive success. Who could have predicted this (besides every economist, the multiple cities that already implemented the policy, and the general concept of supply and demand). In the first month, NYC saw decreased traffic and generated millions of dollars from tolls. All that revenue can go towards efforts that will make a less polluted and more pedestrian and bike friendly city. Want to learn more about congestion pricing?
