When you visit our website https://www.walkingsofter.org (the "Website"), subscribe to our email system, and/or use any of our services (the "Services"), we appreciate that you are trusting us with your personal information and we take your privacy very seriously. In this privacy notice, we strive to explain to you in the clearest way possible

We collect very little information about you as a person when you are simply browsing the Website. In an effort to continually improve the Website and the user experience, we do automatically collect information about how you use the website.  We collect several types of information from and about users of our Website either directly from you or automatically as you navigate through the Website. Information collected automatically may include usage details, IP addresses, and information collected through cookies which is explained in more detail below.

Information You Provide to Us

The information we collect on or through our Website or email system may include:

• Information that you provide by filling in forms on our Website or in response to an email;
• Personal information when requesting materials, information, and courses related to any of our services including our Students Actively Valuing Earth (SAVE) program;
• Personal information when you apply for a Walking Softer scholarship;
• Records and copies of your correspondence (including email addresses), if you contact us;
• Your responses to our inquiries and surveys which may contain your personal information; and
• Details of transactions you carry out through our Website and/or our fulfillment of your requests for information and materials.

• To evaluate potential Walking Softer scholarship recipients;

  (1) Walking Softer Climate Impact Awards,
  (2) SAVE program updates and modifications;
  (3) Walking Softer Scholarship recipients; and
  (4) all of our services and the news and services related to other businesses which we feel further the Walking Softer mission;
• To carry out our obligations and enforce our rights arising from any contracts entered into between you and us;
• To notify you about changes to our Website;
• In any other way we may describe when you provide the information; and
• For any other purpose with your consent.

We may also use your information to contact you about goods and services we provide or are provided by others that we feel may be of interest to you. If you do not want us to use your information in this way, please unsubscribe from our email system or emailing us at info@walkingsofter.org.

To be clear, we only share information with your consent, to comply with laws, to provide you with services you request, or to fulfill our obligations to you.  Specifically, we share your information for the following business purposes:

• Our employees, affiliates, officers, directors, and volunteers.

  (2) apply for a scholarship, or
  (3) are a recipient, or potential recipient, of a Walking Softer Climate Impact Award,
  we may disclose your information to third parties or the public in connection with the service, product, scholarship, or award;
• Business obligations.
  If we are providing services or products to you we may provide your information to any number of fulfillment houses or companies necessary to provide you with the services and/or products you request; and
• Legal Obligation.
  We may transfer and disclose your information to third parties to comply with a legal obligation; when we believe in good faith that the law requires it; and/or at the request of governmental authorities conducting an investigation.

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you provide us with such personal information. We take reasonable steps to protect the information provided from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. However, no electronic data transmission or storage of information can be guaranteed to be fully secure or error free.

You should take special care in deciding what information you provide when requesting our products and services. You use the Services and provide us with your information at your own risk. If we share information with a third party as set forth above, we will use all reasonable efforts to ensure that they keep the information secure and only use the information consistent with the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Your data rights and choices

Walking Softer strives to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us. We have created mechanisms to provide you with the following control over your information:

• Tracking Technologies and Advertising.
  You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent.
• Promotional Offers from the Company.
  If you do not wish to have your email address/contact information used by the Company to promote our own or third parties' products or services, you can opt-out by unsubscribing from our email system or emailing us at info@walkingsofter.org.  In addition to unsubscribing from our email system, if we send you a promotional email, you may send us a return email asking to be omitted from future email distributions. This opt out will not apply to information provided to Walking Softer as a result of a request for a product or service.

California rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act provides you with specific rights regarding your information.

Right to Know and Data Portability

You have the right to request that we disclose certain information to you about our collection and use of your personal information over the past 12 months (the "right to know"). Once we receive your request and confirm your identity, we will disclose to you:

• Sales, identifying the personal information categories that each category of recipient purchased; and
• Disclosures for a business purpose, identifying the personal information categories that each category of recipient obtained.

Right to Delete

You may also request that we delete any personal information that we have collected from or about you. There may be instances where we will not be able to fully comply with your request, such as if we need the personal information to complete a transaction for you, to detect and protect against fraudulent and illegal activity, to exercise our rights, for our internal purposes, or to comply with a legal obligation.

Do Not Track (“DNT”) Settings

DNT is a preference you can set in your web browser to let the websites you visit know that you do not want them collecting information about you. The Website does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” settings.

CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

No part of the Website, or any services made available through the Website, are designed or intended to attract children under the age of 16 without the use and assistance of an adult. No personal information is knowingly collected from any person under the age of 16.
